Rockabilly

OK, I have no idea what to title this post because it’s going to cross multiple topics.

First, I’m totally diggin’ Shoutcast Rockabilly.  Call me weird, but I really REALLY like ‘50s music! Just do a simple “shoutcast” Google search and I’m sure you will find it.

OK next . . . on to the Phat Basturd . . . check this out . . . . here he is, in all of his questionable glory, sucking up to the heat register.  You’d think I never turned the heat on in my hut.  But when I arrived home from work, I turned up the heat so that I’d be warm in the basement where my studio is, and he crawled right up the register in the kitchen . . . he even ignored his dinner dish!  From a male perspective, I’m pretty sure that ignoring the belly is pretty much unheard of.  He totally went against his male cohorts, ignoring his stomach for heat  . . . . he’s such a rebel.

I’m sure he’s really starving too and later on he’s going to eat as if it’s his last meal.

OK, next up, we had a sketch challenge issued over on Stampin’ Canada today by Brandy.  She is a top ranked Canadian CTMH consultant and I tried to rise to the challenge.  You can view her sketch challenge here: Brandy challenge. Brandy’s blog link can be found here: Canadian Scrappers.

Anyways, here’s what I came up with for her challenge.  I had to skip the flourish because I didn’t have one that would fit, but I’m generally happy with the outcome.

On an even different note, I stopped by Michaels today to see what they had that was new and exciting.  If I’m not looking for Nestabilities that I don’t have, I’m on the hunt for border punches.  I picked up these two:

I bought this one because I thought it would give me a nice border, but it turns out that I was hugely mistaken.  What it gives you instead is a fully trimmed out embellishment that you can add to your cards or scrapbook pages.  Once I got over my initial disappointment, I started think about the possibilities of this punch and they’re huge! It’s so pretty that I can see using it on my 3D projects as well as cards.

Now this punch, actually performed as I expected.  It furnished me with a nice daisy floral border.  It’s a deep edge punch, so careful planning will be required.  If you don’t care to put the thinking into the project, then trimming the interior of a card is a perfect solution.  It not only looks real pretty, but it also adds a nice flair to the inside of your cards.  Of course, you will need to carry out some minor trimming, but overall, there is no real thinking required.  I love not having to think!

I looked at the packaging to find the names of these punches, and sadly, I could find none.  Hence the photos.floral

Thanks so much for tuning in.

Red white and black – completely your style isn”t it?? It is a beautiful card. The 2 punches you bought are so pretty. You are tempting me……..the possibilities are limitless with that first one.

You Phat Basturd and my little Munchkin Mimi should get together. Once the weather turns cold, she lives on the heat vent in the bathroom. And, yes, she will forgo food the keep warm.

I”ve seen those edge punches and have been trying to not buy them. I keep telling myself to use my CraftRobo more… I have a weakness for edge punches.
