Foam board . . . really!
I’m still on a foam board kick. This time I’ve repurposed a foam board project from a couple of years back.
When I look at this now, it’s kind of funny. I thought I had a lot of punches and needed a special storage unit for my wealth of punches. All 21 of them! Isn’t THAT hilarious?! ROFL!!!
I made this out of foam board I did manage to fill it up in no time at all, and ended up having to build a bigger and better punch rack. I still do not have a bazillion punches, but I’m workin’ on it.
So, I’ve had the empty rack sitting around for a couple of months and I’ve been thinking about what to do with it. It’s still solid and useable for something, but what, I didn’t know. I tried using it as open shelving, but the size of the holes were severely limiting.
Finally the light bulb went off! I’d make boxes and make them all pretty and put stuff in them!!
So, 45 boxes and 2 days later, this is what I have come up with . . .
Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to come up with 45 different ways of embellishing a drawer front?! O . . . M . . . G!!!! Painful! I started out really over thinking and over planning and quickly realized this could take the rest of the year. So, I stopped worrying about “matchy matchy” and pulled out my scraps drawer and literally reached in blindly and pulled out papers and used whatever my hand found for each drawer.
Here’s some closer up pictures . . .![]()
So, in the end, this non punch rack has become a handy little cabinet that can store all sorts of things within arms reach.
Amazing what you can do with foam board huh?
Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Heather – I LOVE THIS – and the fact that you did not just MAKE DRAWERS – each of them is a creation in itself – now I gotta do this!!! A lot cheaper than buying more cubes for storing things that get lost!! Magnificent idea!!
Wow this is fantastic, what did you make the drawers out of. I would love to have that!
Wonderful – like a paper quilt!
This is such a great idea….I made an advent calendar with 24 muffin tins to cover and that was almost impossible to come up with ideas for. Great job on your drawers!
Wow, I want both of them! You had inspired me.

I love your organisation. Where do you get the foam board, and could you post or send me the dimension used for the drawers and the unit.
Thanks,
Cinthia

Well as for blind ass luck on decorating it looks fantastic. I will take it off your hands if u need me too. But would like some measurements if possible. TFS. First time seeing your blog.
Fantastic
This is so cool! You must give us measurements. We aren’t all as creative and math smart as you. Creating in a “pretty” place is so much more fun……
this is adorable, wish i had the know how and time to make one. I is quite beautiful, thanks for sharing. I also love your punch holder. Mine are just thrown in a drawer and I really dont like that.
Wow you never cease to amaze me with your creativity topped off with the fact that you can actually make whatever you think of. This is beautiful – each one a special project all its’ own. Wonderful project. I love the punch holder too.
